60Hz and Rising

60Hz servers go live for 2v2 Tanks, tournament champions are crowned, Round Robin arrives, and an AI rules assistant joins the battlefield — the biggest TWL update yet.

Platform Update: June 2026 - 60Hz and Rising

The battlefield just got faster. 60Hz servers are now live for 2v2 Tanks, the heli tournaments have crowned their first champions, and we've shipped Round Robin formats, an AI rules assistant, and enough platform updates to fill a changelog twice over. Here is everything that's changed since March.

🏎️ 60Hz Servers Now Live for TWL 2v2 Tanks!

Thanks to your incredible support and activity during our 2v2 Tanks rollout, BF Studios has officially granted us 60Hz servers for our competitive Portal Experience (Code: ZPFX9)!

Why 60Hz Matters: A 60Hz tick rate means the server processes updates twice as fast as standard servers. For high-stakes tank combat, this translates directly to:

  • Crisper Hit Registration: Far fewer "dusted" shells or ghost hits when trading fire at range.
  • Smoother Physics: Tighter vehicle handling and more accurate tracking during fast maneuvers.
  • Lower Latency: A much more responsive, competitive feel across every engagement.

All matches on our BF6 2v2 Tanks Ladder can immediately benefit from this performance boost!

As a reminder, our entire Portal codebase is completely open-source. You can review the logic, contribute, or fork the experience over on our GitHub Repository.

Friday Night PUGs: To celebrate and put the new tick rate through its paces, we are hosting Pick-Up Games (PUGs) every Friday evening (after dinner time EST). Keep your eyes on pick-up-games and meet up in the Discord Lobby to get sorted into teams, experience the 60Hz difference, and run some rounds.

A massive thank you to every player, team captain, and community member who supported the 2v2 rollout, your actions caught BFstudio's attention and made this upgrade possible. Massive mentions, gratitude and high5s to uberdubersoldat, gravity, pelka, our entire list of competitors (it's always infantry's fault!) and our regulars and testers like heretic, haydn, poly, the-master and more!
